The Department of Mechanical Engineering has faculty specialized in the fields of Machine Design & Analysis, Production & Industrial Engineering, Fluid Dynamics, Industrial Engineering and Management, Metallurgy etc. The Mechanical workshop has various types of Lathes, CNC, milling, drilling, shaping, grinding, welding etc. Hardware for the CAD/CAM lab have Pentium IV workstations, plotters and other PCs. Software both for designing and programming like IDEAS, AutoCAD R-14,CATIA,ANSIS,Solid Age, etc are a part of the curriculum.

The hardcore mechanical laboratories are also well equipped. Steam Lab in thermodynamics III, various types of turbines in fluid machinery, vibration testing rig and dynamic balancing machine in theory of machines, multi-cylinder petrol engine and diesel engine test rigs in thermodynamics II are few equipments which are listed to indicate the wealth of the testing facilities. The heat transfer lab and metallurgy lab are also equipped enough to cater industrial consultancy.
